INSEE Ecocycle co-processed safely used pesticide packages in the project “Protecting environment with farmers 2018”
In August 2018, the program “Protecting environment with farmers 2018” was co-organized by the Plant Protection Department, 22 Sub-departments from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau, 17 companies and INSEE Ecocycle Vietnam.
In 2017, INSEE in Vietnam (formerly Holcim Vietnam) co-operated with the program “Protecting environment with farmers 2018” in consulting and constructing the holes to store used pesticide packages for farmers. Then, Ecocycle Vietnam collected and transported to the Hon Chong, Kien Giang plant to treat totally & safely by co-processing in cement kiln technology.
Up to now, INSEE Ecocycle has treated more than 37 tons of used pesticide packages, and raise awareness to protect environment of over 70,000 farmers in Vietnam.
With this activity, INSEE in general and Ecocycle Vietnam in particular want to join hands to contribute to a sustainable environment, zero landfill society and raising the awareness of environmental protection of Vietnamese farmers.

Detailed information on collection and treatment of waste:
All used pesticide packages from the program “Protecting environment with farmers 2018” will be collected, packaged, transported safely by specialized trucks, stored and treated totally by the Co-processing technology at Ecocycle Hon Chong, Kien Giang plant. The advantages of co-processing compared to other traditional methods such as incineration or alndfill, are high temperature and stability (up to ~ 20000C); long residence time (air ~ 8 seconds, solid ~ 30 minutes); high alkaline environment and self-purification process, 24/7 continuous emission monitoring system to help treat waste thoroughly, even the most hazardous one. It leaves no residue, recover energy and environmentally friendly. Co-processing helps reduce the dependence of industrial production on fossil fuels, protects natural resources, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
Co-processing in cement kilns is currently recognized worldwide as one of the most sustainable solutions for non-recyclable waste. This is the solution recommended by many international organizations such as the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the Basel Convention, the European Cement Association, etc.
